PRETTY PERKS #19. RIMMEL LONDON APOCALIPS LIP LACQUER BIG BANG.

This is Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer. I love a glamorous red lip!

Ever since falling in love with the styles of the past and buying vintage, I am always forever testing out shades of red that match my retro style. As I have a very fair complexion, I love the contrast of a bright red lip. Usually when I wear a pop lip such as this shade - Big Bang, I keep my eye makeup light with just a warm eyeshadow, a thin line of black liquid liner and black mascara. This way, I don't tend to look too "made-up" but more natural.

As I have tried a lot of bright red lipsticks, favouring a matte finish than glossy, I wasn't sure if a lip lacquer was going to be something I would like wearing. Surprisingly, the finish of Rimmel's lip lacquer's are glossy (not sticky) and moisturising on the lip.  It is easy to apply with the soft wand that glides across your lips and leaves a flawless finish. You don't need to build up the colour as the formula of the lacquer's allow you to create great coverage after one application.

I found that I didn't need to apply a lip liner with this product but I would recommend using one if you tend to be a little messy (as we all are sometimes) as if you go a little over your lip line the lacquer's do stain. With the lighter shades this may not be as noticeable but with Big Bang it could become a nightmare. When I applied this shade first time round, I wasn't used to the large wand and so ended up getting a tad messy around the corners of my lips. It wasn't the easiest to remove. Be warned not to get any of the lacquer on your clothes too,  as this shade especially, would stain.

I tend to re-apply lipstick a lot during the day, as any shade usually fades quickly on my lips.  I'm prone to licking my lips (bad habit) so I always end up applying every few hours. I was really impressed with Rimmel's lacquer as it has great staying on power!

Jess and I both completely agree that when wearing Rimmel lip lacquers they are moisturising not drying and really pack a punch with their colour. We both have been given so many compliments when wearing both Big Bang and Galaxy (Jess' review can be found HERE) and the entire collection has a great range of colours from nudes to bright red's and pink's.
This is my wifey and me on my birthday a few weeks ago (yes she is my wifey and yes we are 23!) but I just wanted to show how amazing the colour is when wearing the lip lacquer. This was after a good few hours and it still looked fab.

  1. I've read so many posts about this product but I was so disappointed when I tried it! I agree that the colour is fantastic but it started smudging all over my face which was NOT a good look!
