COOKING WITH... #2. A JUICER.



Ok let's say this isn't quite a "cooking with" post but Jess was so excited by her new purchase, we decided to add it into the series! So be prepared for some very excited writing up ahead!



Juice me up baby! Recently I took the plunge and purchased a juicer - so many people have recommended juicing to me and the benefits are said to be amazing. I went for the Phillips (HR1861) Juicer which is currently on sale at Currys for £79.99, after only using it for a week I have now become a massive juice-a-holic.



You may ask; Why Juice? Well it can aid weight loss, increase energy levels, advocate better body function, can lessen your appetite and much more. The benefits are endless and everyone should drink one daily.
 




For the last week I have been drinking a vegetable based juice on an empty stomach. The reason for having it straight away in the morning is so all those nutrients get through my stomach and into the small intestine in quick time :o) I have roughly 80% veg and 20% fruit (just a fruit still contains quite a lot of sugar even though it is natural sugar you still want to keep those sugar levels down).

The biggest things for me about juicing is; 1) my energy level is substantially better and 2) my appetite decreases – simply because I am giving my body what it wants and therefore it doesn’t need anything else.

I have about 10 portions of vegetables / fruit in my juice each morning, and I know that it is doing all sorts of wonderful things to my body - giving it enzymes, life and anti-oxidents. It’s also an alkaleine which helps keep my body balanced and on a beauty note will help improve the appearance and texture of my skin woohoo!




I have been making a super green juice which is a cocktail of;

1/2 a bag kale
1/2 a bag of spinach
1/2 a broccoli
1 green pepper
1 whole cucumber
2-3 sticks of celery
2-3 carrots
1/2 of a fennel
1 or 2 Delicous golden apples
1 lime
A few stems of parsley
A chunk of ginger

Using the quantaties above this makes just of a litre of super food goodness! But be creative get it all in there, serve over ice and I promise you will feel 100 times better on the inside and the outside.
