BEAUTY ADDICTIONS. A HONEY OBSESSION.

Welcome to our new Beauty Addictions series, where we will be sharing our favourite ingredients, scents and brands that we love. To kick off the series, in a truly sticky fashion, we picked one of the most popular ingredients that has almost become a new beauty trend! Let us introduce...Honey.

Honey, has been one of those ingredients that over the last year seems to be popping up in a majority of our favourite brand's new innovations. Although it has been used for years within the beauty world, with the release of Herbal Essences Bee Strong range and the craze of Manuka Honey in literally everything, we realised that we had so many more products hidden away in our beauty cupboards contain this wonderful versatile ingredient.

Honey is a natural ingredient been used within the beauty industry and by many for thousands of years due to it's incredible array of skin benefits that helps to keep you looking younger and healthy. Packed with nutrients, vitamins and enzymes, it can help rejuvenate and hydrate, keeping your skin smooth and giving you that radiant glow.

As Honey is a mild antiseptic, it can also aid wounds and even ache (which we still kick ourselves for not listening to our dearest friend Shaz who always said a Honey face mask will cure all problems years ago!). Honey can help to clear away unwanted dirt and heal the skin. Ta Dah!

Becki: As we mentioned above, I can remember first using a honey face mask up in Leeds with my best friend Shaz. As "at home remedy", we slathered really really really sticky honey all over our faces and giggled our way through 10 minutes. After washing the honey off our faces, our skin was glowing, soft and supple that I had never really experienced before (by the way this was years before Life Looks Perfect was born!). A simple ingredients that we all have sitting away in our cupboards had transformed my skin. Now, as a beauty blogger, I am always on the look out for Honey products as not only to I love using natural ingredients on my skin but it always makes such a difference.
Jess: On toast, in my hair, face, whatever the weather we are obsessed with honey. It only recently came to our attention just how many of our everyday products actually contain honey! This wonder natural ingredient has really worked wonders for my skin; giving it a lovely natural, healthy glow as well as retaining moisture. Not only is honey on our skin and in our products, but my favourite has recently been a squeeze of honey and a sprinkle of almonds on my porridge in the mornings nom nom nom! So tasty! We love you honey!

Here are a few of our favourite beauty products which feature different types of specialised Honey:

Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish £22.50

This body polish is like a dream! It exfoliates and moisturises your skin, leaving you with soft and smooth skin that smells divine! With pure honey and soy milk protein, the scent of this polish is once again another product that you'd either like to live in or eat! We have almost finished our full sized product and it has last us really well. We must admit though, that we only use this scrub on "special" occasions, no idea why but it's one of those products we never want to run out of!

Herbal Essences Bee Strong Shampoo & Conditioner £3.89 each / Herbal Essences Bee Strong Strengthening Intensive Treatment Mask £4.19

We have to admit that we love Herbal Essences Bee Strong range. When we first heard that Herbal Essence was launching a honey inspired range, with Nicole's face to the collection, we were a little worried that it would fail to live up to even the ad campaign. But honestly as soon as we started using both the shampoo, conditioner and treatment mask our hair looked so shiny! Maybe the "Bee Strong" slogan might not be exactly what we thought, as we have fairly strong hair already but we certainly came close to that Scherzinger shine. Out of all the products, we love the treatment mask the most as for the price it feels luxurious to use and the results leave you with soft and shiny hair. Only use once a week though, as we found if you use it any more it can weigh down your hair.

Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask £14.50 c/o (not suitable for sensitive skin)

This has been a firm favourite of ours since we first tried it over a year ago now. Clay is a fantastic ingredient for helping oily skin retain moisture but extract oil without drying out your skin. So when it is mixed with Manuka honey, our spot prone/oily t zone can run and hide, as this dream team draws out impurities, clears pores and leaves you with fresh clean skin that feels soothed and healthy. Use a few times a week if necessary but we like to use it especially on those bad skin weeks to help get our skin back on track.

Melvita Ultra Nourishing Cream £28.00 c/o

This has been a great addition to our skin care regime. It is a light luxurious daily moisturiser set to hydrate and revitalise dry delicate skin - perfect for Jess. Containing the "3 Honeys" complex (Thyme, Acacia and Orange Blossom honeys) this product is amazingly rich, creamy and so so nourishing. It's scent is 'zingy' with subtle notes of apricots and orange, silky smooth during application and soaks beautifully into the skin. It has honestly worked wonders for Jess's tired, dry skin and has firmly made it into her skin care routine!

Elemental Herbology Facial Glow Radiance Peel Mask £40.00

This has got to be our most expensive face mask purchase ever but oh boy is it worth it! As much as we are still scared of the word "peel" in the beauty world, this mask doesn't exactly peel your face as the name suggests! Instead it helps to remove dead skin cells, help de-congest your skin and with that special ingredient Manuka Honey your skin becomes soothed and softened. The perfect mask right? We use this mask once or twice a week, as it always makes our skin look radiant.

Have you noticed a huge rise in the amount of Honey products out there on the high street? Are you a fan? Hope you enjoyed our first Beauty Addiction post. Till next time!

PS. Yes we did absolutely cover all our products in the stickiest honey we could fine! But we can clarify no honey was wasted for the purposes of this post *licks off Liz Earle Face Mask*.

  2. Aww great post! I LOVE Honey based products which is weird because I hate the taste of honey (except for Honey Nut Cheerios- which are the ambrosia of the Gods) - I especially love Honey I Washed The Kids soap from Lush...it's amazing.

The Kiehls Creme de Corps is lovely too - I only really buy it if i'm feeling a tad extravagant, but it smells amazing <3
