THE BLOGGER MADE ME DO IT. TO CHOP OR NOT TO CHOP!

Since starting this blog, I have slowly been introducing parts of my life into my content and most of all, talking to all of you about it. I have found so many amazing 'twitter' friends, yes I never thought I'd say that but it's true. If you chat to the same people everyday, I don't see the harm in forming a sort of online friendship, supporting each other through the good times and bad. OK so ladies and gents I need your help.  I am having a bit of a hair dilemma.

Now you know that tag that seems to be going around at the moment 'the blogger made me buy it' or something like that, well I am not afraid of admitting that bloggers were a huge influence in me deciding to Ombre my hair last year. It was a sort of blogger phase, a hair trend and I love it! I have had it done professionally and from a bottle at home, as my anxiety got really bad, which proved to be just as effective, although I seem to have lost quite alot of hair in the process! Oops! I have been rocking Ombre for the best part of a year and now I want a change. Here comes the but...this proves to be a tad trickier for me, as my anxiety has kept me from getting the snip for months. I have even considered getting Jess to cut my hair at home. Jess and scissors can't be the cure!! Please noooo! So if a change of hair is what is needed it is going to take guts for me to go and do it.

I reckon by now you might be thinking, why am I bothering to ask you guys but honestly I need some advice and I really listen to your opinions. I can't seem to make up my mind. I have never been too attached to my hair and it doesn't scare me to have a drastic change, it's just the logistics that make it tricky hehe. If I decide to keep long hair, I need to start taking care of it and making the effort as ladies it is becoming a nightmare to look after. It is somewhere between Rapunzel and a Haystack!

I have seen a few hair cuts I like celebs and bloggers too but I can't help but fall in love with short shoulder length hair. Yep, so once again I fall into the a'blogger' haircut. Between me and you chicks, this was not intentional but ooh how I swoon over other peoples amazing hair and everyone seems to have the new year, new hair plan!At the moment my hair comes almost passed my ribs, so this will be a drastic change if I chop. What's your thoughts? To chop or not to chop?
PS. Are you diggin my Pj's in my pic up there?? Hell yer I love the Muppets and I am 12 years old!

  1. I went through the exact same! I saw loads of people getting these cooler shorter do's and I was getting a bit sad over my crappy looking hair! I had spent so long growing my hair, but my hair is naturally straight, and is very fine. it started to look a bit limp, and generally rubbish so I took the plunge...

I chopped mine to just below collarbone length, and absolutely love it! It looks so much thicker, I can actually style my hair a bit and it looks so much better and a bit more grown up! I even added a couple of highlights under my hair to frame my face like this photo from Ralph Lauren ---> http://www.pinterest.com/pin/313492824033434732/

So all in all, do it! Mine feels and looks so much better, and now I've started a proper hair routine, I could probably grow it longer again and it be in much better condition :)

  2. I've always been one to advocate a chop and you'll often find me hacking off my own hair when it gets to an annoying length. However, from the above pic your hair looks gorgeous! I think the length suits you so I would say give it a re-fresh but still keep it long. Btw, I'm not sure if you follow her blog, but Beauty By Britanie also suffers a lot of from anxiety, and I know that flower remedies seem to help ease her anxiety quite a bit...this posts sheds some light on it http://beautybybritanie.com/2014/01/10/alexis-smart-flower-remedies-safe-and-sound/

  3. I think your hair looks lovely! But if you DO want it chopped, just be sure you're 100% confident in the style (& stylist!!!) if it's something drastic.
Why not go for a trim first, see if that makes you feel differently?xx

  4. I think your hair looks really good at the moment and I love the ombre trend - I jumped on that bandwagon too! I did mine at home by myself - I couldn't afford the salon treatment so I resorted to ombre/highlighting kits to get my look. I love having ombre hair but the only thing I find difficult is the maintenance. Lightening the ends of my hair has made it completely dry out and go all frizzy, which leaves me in a similar situation: to chop or not to chop?
I think that cutting your hair is quite a big thing, despite what others say, as once it's gone it's gone so you need to make sure you really want it cut before you take the plunge. I have been growing my hair for ages and I'm scared to cut it as I don't want it to take forever to grow again.
I think the best advice I can give for now is to have a trim. Go to the hairdressers, have a chat with your stylist and discuss your fears and what's holding you back. I'm sure they can give you some great tips and advice. Once you've had a trim you may feel differently and want to keep going shorter, or you may think 'no, I want the length' and carry on growing it. Trimming is good as it helps your hair to grow faster and healthier anyway so you have nothing to lose, really.
For now make sure you use lots of conditioner and hair masks on your ends. I recently bought Herbal Essence's Split End Protection hair mask which is really good (and on offer in Superdrug at the moment!) It smells delicious and adds a soft shine to your hair which may make you fall in love with it all over again. Another great product is Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Luscious Long Intensive Conditioner - it smells amazing and once again leaves your hair soft and shiny.
I hope I have been of some help - if you need any more advice don't hesitate to tweet (@perksofamyblog) or message me through my blog as I'll be happy to help.
Good luck with whatever decisions you go with!

  5. Your hair looks lovely and I'm so jealous it's so long! Mine never grows past a certain length. I think you'd really suit shorter hair too though, but maybe rather than going short straight away maybe just a few inches with some layers, and if you like it you can always go shorter. I find hair grows quicker after a haircut anyway xxx
