It is no surprise that nails have become a huge part of my daily routine. As a florist I am forever painting and re-painting my nails not only to hide the hideous state of my nails underneath but also to add a bit of glamour to a rather un-glamorous job. These six fabulous nail polishes have been my go to this Summer and surprisingly they are all new shades to my ever growing nail polish collection. With something for every occasion, I love to mix up these shades always depending on my mood of course.

Starting from the left, is one of my New York Haul purchases and it was a complete surprise from Jess - Formula X nail colour in shade Virtuoso (£5.60 approx, 12ml). These polishes are just as good as everyone says they are. The colour is a rich warm taupe that looks gorgeous against sun kissed skin. The formula is incredible after two coats and leaves glossy nails for days. I would love some more of these polishes and when I am in a Sephora (please say it is soon!) I will be buying in bulk!

Two pastel shades that work with any look is Rimmel London Rita Ora 60 second polish in Pillow Talk c/o (£3.69, 8ml) and Essie's SS14  Fashion Playground (£10.50, 13.5ml). Starting with my favourite nail brush ever created, Rimmel London's 60 second brush, I am smitten with this pastel baby blue polish that looks really cute and dainty once on the nail. Who can refuse a minty nail, Essie's Fashion Playground is the perfect mint green. Both of these polishes have a slight shimmer to them, which actually isn't that noticeable once on your nail but adds to its glossy finish. Like most of Essie's polishes this one needs at least two to three coats.

The most sexy polish of them all is Marc Jacobs Lola ($18.00, 13ml). Again from my New York Haul, this is my favourite red colour of all time. It is sexy, spicy and rich. The perfect 50s pin up gal red I'd say. The application is easy and the bottle just oozes sexiness too. It is an expensive polish but well worth the dollar in my eyes.

Finally are two nail polishes that I think deserve huge congrats on creating a seriously strong formula, . They are Maybelline Super Stay 7 day Gel Nail Colour in Orange Punch c/o (£4.49, 10ml) and Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour in Awakening c/o (£7.50, 12ml). I have put these two to the test at work, which most polishes really don't stand a chance. These two have stood the challenge of my floristry hands and I adore their formula's. I have gone on and on about Maybelline's Gel Colours and this orange shade is a knock out. It is loud, bright and one for a summer holiday or if your like me every blooming day! The colour applies evenly and only needs two coats for strength. This new Limited Edition SS14 polish from Liz Earle is a pretty Coral pink that looks amazing with a tan. It really brings out the colour in your skin and is so pretty. It has a strengthening formula so the polish keeps your nails healthy and strong- just what I need.

Overall, I think I could rock any of these shades any time of the year but for Summer they are just perfect. A favourite you ask? I think it is always going to be Maybelline's Orange Punch as I just can't get enough of the strong formula, easy application and hello the amazing colour!!

What are your favourite summer nail polishes? Any recommendations?

  1. I absolutely LOVE Essie's fashion playground, little else has graced my nails since I picked it up but I've recently discovered the formula in Nars nail polishes are amazing. Wind Dancer is my current orange of choice :) lovely post!
