Back in the Summer, I was kindly invited to the Superdrug Christmas showcase, where I got to preview all of the amazing Christmassy goodness that was to hit our shelves. As part of this event, Superdrug also offered us to write down and share with them what beauty we use everyday.

On a card just before we left (that clearly was never going to be big enough to share what beauty bits I use everyday...I am a complete beauty addict) we had to write down what we use day to day for your face, nails, teeth, body etc. I had to cut mine down just to even fit on a proportion of the card but I wrote my Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm (£36.00), Pixi Glow Tonic (£16.00), Origins Moisturiser (£38.00), Sea Salt Spray (£9.50), Batiste Dry Shampoo (£4.99), Colgate Toothbrush and Toothpaste (£4.99), Soap & Glory Body Scrub (£6.99) and Korres Body Butter (£10.00). I would say this is embarrassingly a very small collection of products that I do use everyday but there are so many more!

With this card, Superdrug were going to provide us with cost effective alternatives from their brands and their own in store products. Now when I was sent mine, they kindly included how much I would save if I switched to the products that you see above and it was embarrassingly over £500! I sometimes think beauty is one of the worst addictions for your bank account. I mean I have got so bad that I don't even batter an eye lid at a cleanser that might set me back over £40. Surely thats crazy money isn't it!

So to the alternatives, I was more intrigued by the Superdrug  Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser (£4.99, 250ml) which at under a fiver is a great creamy cleanser that melts away daily dirt and grime leaving your skin feeling hydrated and really clean. The ingredients are fairly basic but sometimes that is just what your skin needs. The Superdrug Simple Pure Refreshing Toner (£2.59, 200ml) is a light and softening toner with no alcohol in it which is a relief. Again a simple product that feels lovely om the skin. Finally another product from the swap which I have really liked using is the Vitamin E Sugar and Oil Body Scrub (£2.99), a new product from Superdrug launching soon. At a crazy cheap price this scrub has a very similar texture to the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub (£8.00) but just without the amazing scent. It makes my skin feel just the same which was impressive and I would certainly consider switching to this one to save the pennies!

How much do you think you could save if you made the switch?

  1. Wow, that's a huge saving! It is scary when you think about how much we spend on beauty. I really want to try some skincare products from Superdrug. I love that all of their own brand is cruelty-free, which is very important to me. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the body scrub! xxx
