June 10, 2015

As you do, one crappy rainy Saturday, Jess and I were up way too early, so early it should be illegal on the weekend, so we decided whilst it was quiet we would pop to the shops. Obviously on the hunt for baby clothes, as Jess is not far away now from the babies arrival, in typical sisterly action, we ended up shopping for ourselves!

After the usual clothes splurge, we headed to Boots for a browse for some new makeup. After some browsing and seventy squids later, I walked out hiding in my hands.

To the bag of goodies! Most of them I have tried already so will be able to give you my verdict.

I picked up a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£5.99) which I have wanted to try for a while to see if it really does give you a smooth finish. Now I have tried it, I do think it's a nice clean way of applying foundation but the sponge does soak up a lot of product, meaning I use almost triple the amount I usually would.

The star products of my bag were the Soap and Glory Archery brow tint and pencil (£10.00) and a Revlon Colourburst lip butter lipstick (£7.99). Firstly if your still learning, like me, to get your brows right, the Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil is amazing! One side is a thin pen with a brown tint, which I use to get the perfect outline and then I fill in with the light brow pencil on the other end. It really does make doing your brows quick and simple. I have been late to the party with Revlon Lip butters and  think its mainly to do with the fact I only wear matte lipsticks. These however threw me out of my comfort zone but I love them! They have the texture much like a lip balm that they glide onto your lips but bursting with colour, they leave a beautiful shine and stain on your lips. I picked up Tutti Frutti, a rich orange hue that adds a bit of summer to my basic makeup.

I did take a risk with buying Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo (£2.99), mainly as I do trust the brand and love their shampoos but I also wanted to try something new. However I've got to say this dry shampoo is pretty disappointing. It doesn't have the same volumising affect as most and the shampoo doesn't exactly 'clean' your hair, just makes it that bit more shiny which isn't always the look I'm after. Kinda gutted on this one, as I thought it would make my hair smell like roses!

I picked up the usual bits and bobs whilst I was in there and a little nail treat from Rita Ora's Rimmel London collection in shade Tangerine Tent (£2.99). Orange is my summer nail colour I have decided!

What are your Boots favourites?

  1. I had that issue with the dry shampoo too. Gotta stick with good ol' Batiste for that, sadly.
I've been after the S&G brow products for ages now, it looks great, hope you get on well with it.
I'm a sucker for any S&G these days so I'm always raiding the Boots aisles for their 3 for 2 offers.
